The Level 3 Viticulture Apprenticeship is a two year course, designed to develop the knowledge and skills of apprentices so that they will have access to more senior roles and more career choices upon completion.
Apprentices learn a variety of skills including: canopy management and pruning, key vineyard operations, tractor driving, use of vineyard machinery, as well as a range of competency certificates such as first aid and pesticide application. In addition to the practical skills, the apprentices will learn underlying theory to enhance their understanding in grapevine biology and viticulture. This will help them make more informed decisions in the vineyard. The apprenticeship scheme is work-based, with ten weekly blocks of teaching at our Plumpton Wine Division over the two year period. Accommodation is provided, making the course nationally accessible.
