The Academy has a small number of scouts dedicated to the Academy on a regional basis. They regularly watch games and identify players from 16-18 age groups. When a scout highlights a prospective player, they are invited to attend a trial day.
We are currently only recruiting for female players. We're looking for potential rather than the finished product. Players don't necessarily need to have played for a club. We take into account a player’s technical, tactical, physical, psychological and social attributes, as well as looking at their potential. Mindset is a very big facet in terms of what the Academy looks for.
Trial days involve spending the morning at Plumpton College where players will get to tour the facilities and undertake a short interview. After lunch, players will take a mini bus down to Lewes FC where you'll be greeted by club staff, change into your kit ready for a football trial. The day will run from 10am - 4pm.
